File this under things you didn’t necessarily ask for, but when I LOVE something, I want to shout about it from the rooftops—be it a book, a podcast, or, in this week’s case, random French products.* Welcome to “J’adore” a smidgen of declarations from moi about something(s) I adore. (Like, for example, the fact that “adore” and “adore” mean the same thing in English and French. But no need to devote more than a sentence to that!)
Usually, when I come back from the U.S. after a long trip, and when I won’t be back again for a while, I bring a ton of products I can’t get here (or can, but for a hefty price)—be it beauty, food, or pharmaceuticals. But somehow, I leaned so hard into the whole vacation thing this summer that I completely forgot to stock up on the likes of smooth, low-fat Skippy peanut butter, extra-large Advil liquigels, extra-large Aquafresh toothpaste, Arm & Hammer baking soda, and honey from my uncle’s hive.
This got me thinking of the local products I’ve grown to love in France—the stuff I’d stock up on or crave if I ever were to leave. In no particular order, they include:
L’Occitane’s Shower Oil
It starts out as oil, but with water and a gentle rub it lathers into a thin layer of foam, which makes it ideal for shaving. It leaves my legs feeling smooth and super hydrated. I also love its sweet almond scent. Plus, you can buy it Duty-Free at the airport!
