How High Can I Go?
In which I realize I may be a tenor while struggling to carry a tune.

Given my past performances—elementary school, karaoke, the shower—I’d always thought I was an alto. But our first rehearsal proved I might be a tenor and end up lip-syncing the entire show. These songs are hella high and the lyrics are kind of…dated. I know, I know. It’s theater and it’s a hokey musical from the late ’50s. But girl’s got a lot to learn!
First up? “Iowa Stubborn.” While listed on our schedule, I’d been spending more time lately with Chappell Roan than I have Hugh Jackman’s rendition of Harold Hill so I remained unfamiliar with the ditty. I may need to shift my priorities.
